Hester provides therapy for individuals wishing to establish more positive ways of living their lives; she aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where she can assist her clients in exploring the underlying causes of existing unhelpful behaviours in order to establish empowering new behaviours and set attainable and sustainable goals for the future.
Hester offers short-term or long-term support depending on a client's needs. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety and depression as well as those facing important changes in their lives as a result of divorce, career change or bereavement. Hester has a particular interest in the importance of sound self esteem and the effect it has on our ability to lead fulfilling and rewarding lives.

Therapy & Workshops
Hester is also fully trained to deliver, and facilitate, the Pyramid for Parents course, and was certified in 2008 to support parents wishing to increase their knowledge of how to best support their children through the early years and beyond. These courses enhance parents' skills and assist them in understanding how best to support their children's emotional well-being.
Whilst with Mind, Hester worked with hundreds of children and parents in schools (primary and secondary) in the Bracknell Forest area, organising and facilitating regular multi-disciplinary meetings within schools to discuss the needs of the children as well as liaising with, and working closely alongside, the Local Authority's Educational Psychology department.
When East Berkshire Mind closed, Hester was awarded the contract to became the Service Provider for the Pyramid Clubs in the borough (2010-2014) and was licensed to train and certify club leaders to assist in the delivery of the groups.
Children & Adolescents
Hester began working with children and adolescents in 2007. Her original training was with the mental health charity Mind where she undertook extensive training to deliver, and facilitate, Pyramid Clubs for Children.
Developed in the 1970s in the UK, Pyramid Clubs offer a therapeutic group-work early intervention for children aged 7-14. These targeted groups offer a developmental journey for children who internalise their difficulties and are showing early signs of mental health problems such as social withdrawal, somatic disorders, depression and anxiety (http://www.uwl.ac.uk/pyramid/how-it-helps).
During this time she employed Psychology graduates to assist in running the clubs and increased the reach of the intervention, allowing 200 children a year come through, and benefit from, the clubs. Hester also personally instigated the screening the emotional well-being of all children in the targeted year groups resulting in 1000 children each year being screened (using Goodman's strengths and difficulties questionnaire) and, where necessary, sign posted, to receive additional support. This assisted in identifying children, who may have otherwise been missed, in getting the support they needed.
Hester is trained in EFA (Emotional First Aid) for Children and Adolescents, completing the course and becoming certified in 2008. She has also completed all Child Protection courses to meet Local Authority requirements for working with children and adolescents in the borough.
To ensure the best care for her child and adolescent clients, Hester has the support of a Chartered (HCPC registered) Child Psychologist who provides regular supervision for her more complex child and adolescent cases.

Hester works integratively, which means that she is not bound to working within only one theoretical tradition and, as such, tailors her support to fit the specific needs of each client. Her way of working is psychodynamic in nature, which can provide a greater understanding of our history and our deeper selves, including aspects which may not be wholly conscious to us. She also has significant experience of using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) based techniques, which provide clear tools for changing specific unhelpful behaviours.
